We are in the season of
love, of reds, whites, flowers, and teddy bears. From the first day of
February, even the air smells like love.
In our generation, the
current society has helped us to define what love is, what it should “feel”
like and the ABC of giving and receiving such love. We have based love on the
butterflies in our tummy and the intense feeling of closeness, and want you
feel when you are next to that special someone, the gifts given, the places,
the cutesy things and inside jokes you share between each other, the midnight
phone calls, the pet names and the love emojis, the “surprises” you get on
special occasions like today, Valentines day, and those posts on social media
that makes everyone green with envy and sigh “God when?”
But if we are being honest
like REALLY REALLY honest, what really is love? True Love? God’s Love?
Love is large and
incredibly patient; it cares for others more than it cares for itself.
It is gentle and
consistently kind to all.
True love does not want
what it doesn’t have. Love is not covetous.
Love is not boastful,
neither is it arrogant. It is not full of itself.
It refuses to be jealous
of when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s
achievements nor inflate its own importance.
Love does not force itself
on others. Isn’t always “me first.”
Love is not easily
irritated or take offense. It joyfully celebrates honesty.
Love does not keep scores
on the sins of others. It does not take pleasure in someone else’s downfall, failure,
or humiliation.
Love trusts God always and
never stop believing the best for others.
It never looks back but
keeps going to the end.
Never taking failure as
defeat.
Love never dies, and it
never stops loving.
And to be honest, we fail
in this type of love, all of us. And we fail because we have never tasted of
such a love.
We do not know how to
receive it, how to give it. It requires a power beyond our own to live out this
love,
To experience it.
And that power can come
only from God himself.
From the Spirit of our Lord.
Because God is Love,
And Love is the Movement.
With Love,
The DCG Team.
