Self-Love: The Hardest Type Of Love.

The second most important type of love after God’s Love is Self-Love, and it’s probably the hardest…

It's funny how we can go to the ends of the earth and back for the people we love—our parents, partners, siblings, friends, you name it- but when it comes to us… Most of the time, we NEVER put ourselves first.

Don’t be fooled; self-love is not pride, ego, or selfishness. Self-love is accepting who you are in Christ, your identity, and giving yourself the chance to grow, learn, experience life in pastel colors, and walk in God’s divine plan and purpose for your life.

Self-love is knowing when to say no when you feel like you are being walked over. Self-Love is knowing when to walk away from a space where you are not being valued. Self-Love is understanding that you are YOU, unique and different, and nobody can do it like you.

Self-love is that unique trait, the one-sided dimple or the vitiligo, the pearly white smile or curls, the brown eyes and freckled skin, the acceptance of God’s word that you are beautifully and wonderfully made, and no one can tell you otherwise.

Self-love is going for it: the online course, the new business, that master’s degree, the singing competition and working hard to attain it. It is going after whatever your heart’s desire and knowing that no matter what, it is YOU against YOU.

Self-love is healing; it is knowing that no matter how many mistakes you have made, you have a Father who loves you so much to forgive, has so many great and mighty plans for you, if only you will learn to trust blindly.

Self-love is Self-respect, knowing that your validation comes from nowhere else but God. It is contentment; it is understanding that your growth cannot be measured by someone else’s; it is the resolve that no matter how many times you might fall, you will get back up and keep going.

Self-love is celebrating yourself when you reach that milestone, no matter how little, the solo date and the spa sessions, or even something as simple as a cup of ice-cream or well-deserved sleep. Self-Love is uplifting yourself when you might have failed and trying it another way till you succeed.

Self-love is intentional. It is waking up every morning no matter how the day goes, good or bad, and you will choose YOU. You will celebrate those wins, and you will learn from those failures, but when all is said and done, you know YOU matter.

So go on and smash those goals or start that business or go to the moon. For you, the sky is just your starting point, so don’t EVER let anyone tear you down or make you feel less of yourself... why should you, when God made you in His own image and likeness?

You are Beautiful, you are Capable and most importantly… You are PERFECT.

And I didn’t say so; God did.

With Love,

DCG Team.

New Year,New Me: The Blank Page.

Dear Christian Girl, First of, Congratulations on making it another year!!! As I sit down to write this post, I'm imagining a conversation with a dear friend - a Christian girl who's seeking encouragement, support, and a reminder of God's love. This is a letter to her, and to all the Christian girls out there who are on this journey of faith with me. It's a safe space for us to share, learn, and grow together. Well,it's that time of the year where some of us (the rest of us have either given up,or never even bothered in the first place) sit down and reflect on the past year and proceed to pen down our now famous "new year resolutions" and "new year goals" But be honest, (its just you and I), by the time we get to the end of June, how many of those goals have you achieved and how many resolutions did you stick by? I for example, is a guilty party on this table. This wonderful blog was a long time coming but kept procastinating and giving excuses,b...

The Mustard Seed Faith

Dear Christian Girl, Have you ever wondered about the mustard seed faith? We are stepping into a year of boundless opportunities and are literally not going to allow ANYTHING at all stop us from achieving our dreams. But when the chips are down and we are faced with obstacles, some even seemingly unending, what is going to keep you and I going?  Simple, FAITH…faith that according to Psalm 45:6 “God is within her, she shall not be moved. He shall help her just at the break of dawn”. The same kind of faith that moved Paul in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. These are popular verses yes, but what are their effects in our everyday lives? Do we even believe a little bit that even in the toughest of storms, God is within us and will give us strength…always? Jesus talks about the Mustard Seed Faith in Matthew 17:20 that if you have faith as little as the mustard seed, you can say to this mountain be moved and it shall move, but sometimes we don’t e...
