The Mustard Seed Faith

Dear Christian Girl,

Have you ever wondered about the mustard seed faith?

We are stepping into a year of boundless opportunities and are literally not going to allow ANYTHING at all stop us from achieving our dreams. But when the chips are down and we are faced with obstacles, some even seemingly unending, what is going to keep you and I going?

Simple, FAITH…faith that according to Psalm 45:6 “God is within her, she shall not be moved. He shall help her just at the break of dawn”. The same kind of faith that moved Paul in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

These are popular verses yes, but what are their effects in our everyday lives? Do we even believe a little bit that even in the toughest of storms, God is within us and will give us strength…always?

Jesus talks about the Mustard Seed Faith in Matthew 17:20 that if you have faith as little as the mustard seed, you can say to this mountain be moved and it shall move, but sometimes we don’t even trust God that little.

God is speaking to us today with the story of the mustard seed to trust him with everything…nothing is too little or too small to be placed in God’s hands, and that is often where we make our mistake.

We feel some situations are too “insignificant” to be placed in Gods hands and can only trust him with the big and weighty matters, which are all but true.

It may seem out of body, but I had once very casually prayed to God to turn on the water heater outside my room one morning and immediately I heard the switch flick!

The experience taught me I don’t have to see a big miracle to put my faith in Jesus, I just have to will myself to believe…even when the situation seems otherwise, or my mind is rationally telling me it is not possible (I had to jump down from my bed to see if the switch was really on)

So, whether I am simply watching football or praying for a big, big miracle I choose to lean on the side of faith, because where human rationale ends, faith begins, and God works.

I will leave you with this: Little Mustard Seeds turn out to be really big trees, likewise, little acts of faith builds strong unshaken faith!!

 Sincerely Yours,

DCG Team.

Love Is The Movement

We are in the season of love, of reds, whites, flowers, and teddy bears. From the first day of February, even the air smells like love. In our generation, the current society has helped us to define what love is, what it should “feel” like and the ABC of giving and receiving such love. We have based love on the butterflies in our tummy and the intense feeling of closeness, and want you feel when you are next to that special someone, the gifts given, the places, the cutesy things and inside jokes you share between each other, the midnight phone calls, the pet names and the love emojis, the “surprises” you get on special occasions like today, Valentines day, and those posts on social media that makes everyone green with envy and sigh “God when?” But if we are being honest like REALLY REALLY honest, what really is love? True Love? God’s Love? Love is large and incredibly patient; it cares for others more than it cares for itself. It is gentle and consistently kind to all. ...

Self-Love: The Hardest Type Of Love.

The second most important type of love after God’s Love is Self-Love, and it’s probably the hardest… It's funny how we can go to the ends of the earth and back for the people we love—our parents, partners, siblings, friends, you name it- but when it comes to us… Most of the time, we NEVER put ourselves first. Don’t be fooled; self-love is not pride, ego, or selfishness. Self-love is accepting who you are in Christ, your identity, and giving yourself the chance to grow, learn, experience life in pastel colors, and walk in God’s divine plan and purpose for your life. Self-love is knowing when to say no when you feel like you are being walked over. Self-Love is knowing when to walk away from a space where you are not being valued. Self-Love is understanding that you are YOU, unique and different, and nobody can do it like you. Self-love is that unique trait, the one-sided dimple or the vitiligo, the pearly white smile or curls, the brown eyes and freckled skin, the acceptance of God’...

UNNOTICED, NOT UNIMPORTANT: THE BLESSINGS WE FORGET

Dear Christian Girl, The other evening, during family prayers, my younger brother said something that struck a deep chord: he pointed out how we often “regularize our blessings.” In other words, we’ve grown so used to God’s daily goodness that we begin to treat the extraordinary as ordinary. We no longer see them as miracles we just call them "normal." But think about it how often do we pause to thank God for things like breathing without machines? For waking up in sound mind? For limbs that work, hearts that beat, and organs that function without any command from us? Somewhere along the way, we began treating the mercy of God as routine as though it’s our right. Psalm 103:2 reminds us clearly: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” That “all” includes the silent ones too the doors that opened without noise, the sicknesses we never even knew were coming, the delays that were actually divine protection. It includes grace we didn’t pray for, and favour we...
